Regional Teaching Excellence: Broome Residency... what a day! PKUC hosted our inaugural Regional Teaching Excellence: Broome Residency at The Oaks Broome. A day built for pre-service teachers ready to understand the Kimberley before they step into a classroom here. From cultural awareness with Yawuru Elder Aunty Di, to insights from the Kimberley Education Regional Office, therapeutic practice with the team at Stepping Stones Therapy Services Broome, and a truly unforgettable afternoon of equine assisted learning with Professor Juli Coffin at Yawardani Jan-ga, this was a day grounded in the people and knowledge that make teaching in this region what it is. We closed the day with a sundowner celebrating our students, our practitioners, and the wider Kimberley community building a genuine regional teaching workforce together. A special thank you to Willie Creek Pearls for sponsoring the door prize. A huge thank you to our guest facilitators for sharing your time and expertise so generously, and to Shell, whose sponsorship made this inaugural Residency possible. Thank you also to our university partners, Curtin University and Edith Cowan University (ECU), for supporting students to be part of this opportunity. We also acknowledge La Trobe University, the University of Notre Dame Australia, Murdoch University, the Department of Education, CEWA, Marjalin and Morrgul for their continued partnership and contribution to building a stronger teaching pipeline for the Kimberley. PKUC on 7NEWS Regional WA! We’re proud to see the work of the Pilbara Kimberley University Centre featured on 7NEWS Regional WA, highlighting how regional students can access university education without having to leave their communities. Across our study hubs in the Pilbara and Kimberley, students can study with universities across Australia while accessing local support from enrolment right through to graduation. The story also celebrates our recently renewed partnership with Curtin University, strengthening the opportunities and support available to students living and studying in our regions. Still buzzing from FeNaClNG last weekend!💪❄️ We loved being part of such a great community event alongside our STEM in Sport program sponsor Santos Ltd. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, had a chat and took on our Ice Bath Challenge. It was such a fun way to connect with families, young people and the wider Karratha community while sharing a little of the science behind sport. A special shout-out to Yani, one of our STEM in Sport students, who helped out on the day and did a fantastic job showcasing the program to the community. Thanks Yani!
