Scholarships are an important part of the Pilbara Kimberley University Centres (PKUC) commitment to rewarding academic excellence, supporting research, and enabling students from all backgrounds to realise their potential.

You must be residing in the Pilbara or Kimberley and be registered with the PKUC to be eligible to apply. If you are not registered with us, please complete the online enrollment form PKUC Student Registration Form to be eligible. Students can apply for multiple scholarships using a single application form by selecting the scholarships relevant to them.

Job Pathways Scholarship provides two (2) scholarships valued at $10,000* for students residing in the Shire of Wyndam – East Kimberley or the Shire of Halls Creek and enrolled in, or intending to enroll in, a recognised higher education course, as approved by PKUC. Preference may be given to First Nations students and students from remote or very remote communities.
Scholarship funds can be directed towards course fees and/or resources** associated with tertiary study in a Certificate IV or higher with one of PKUC University Partners.
*10,000 is bsased on full-time or part-time enrolment in higher education courses.
**Resources include: stationery, text/e-books, IT costs, uniforms and associated costs for childcare and travel and accommodation when completing placement.

*The amount of $4,000 is based on full-time enrolment in tertiary study.

The PKUC encourages students to explore all scholarship opportunities to assist with the financial pressures of study.
Currently open scholarships are below and this list will be updated as we become aware of available scholarships, please review each of the links for further details and terms and conditions.
Undergraduate scholarships
- Saver Plus | Brotherhood of St. Laurence – a matched saving program where eligible participants who are able to save $500 will recieve an additional $500 towards educational expenses.
- Support for students – Department of Education, Australian Government
- Study in a regional area – Department of Education, Australian Government
- Tertiary Access Payment – Department of Education, Australian Government -The Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) is a non-indexed, means-tested payment to school-leavers from regional or remote areas who need to relocate for full-time, higher-level tertiary education (Certificate IV and above) at an education provider located at least 90 minutes by public transport from their family home.
- Commonwealth Prac Payment – Department of Education, Australian Government -The Commonwealth Prac Payment offers nursing, teaching and social work students support while they’re undertaking mandatory placements

- MADALAH Tertiary Scholarships: Applications for tertiary scholarships commencing in 2025 are now closed. Applications will re open on Monday 6th October 2025 for the 2026 academic year.
Nursing and Midwifery Office Scholarships and Financial Assistance – There are currently 9 scholarships offered
- Scholarships offered – Semester 1 2026 applications are now open. Applications will close on 5th February 2026 4pm WST.
- Study Assistance Scheme (www.wa.gov.au) As a public sector employee you can receive a 10% discount on course fees from tertiary institutions.
- Regional and Rural Scholarship for University and TAFE – Applications open annually on 1 December, and close 31 January.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship for University and TAFE – Applications open annually on 1 December, and close 31 January

- Students – Medical Recruitment & Education – Rural Health West offer sponsorships to medical, nursing, midwifery, dental and allied health students from WA universities to attend events and conferences that might engage students in careers in rural health.
- Health Workforce Scholarship Program – Medical Recruitment & Education – The Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP) is an initiative of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, administered in Western Australia (WA) by Rural Health West. The HWSP provides scholarships and bursaries to help health professionals in rural and remote Australia retain and enhance their skills, capacity and scope of practice. the next round of funding will Round 18 will be open from February 9th – May 24th 2026.
- Shell’s support for communities in the Kimberley and the Northern Territory | Shell Australia – Empowering Indigenous Youth through Education (10 x $10k per annum scholarships for indigenous tertiary students across the Kimberley & NT.)
- Elevate: Boosting diversity in STEM – 500 undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships to women and non-binary people in STEM. Applications for 2026 have closed, applications for 2027 will open in 2026
