About Us
The Pilbara Kimberley Universities Centre (PKUC) is a not-for-profit higher education support organisation that provides services and facilities for current and aspiring students undertaking online university education and other tertiary and adult learning education within the Pilbara and Kimberley regions.
The PKUC is a member of the Federal Government’s Regional Study Hub (RUSH) network, providing support services and facilities to students in regional, rural and remote areas to access higher education without the need to leave their families, friends, homes or jobs to pursue higher education. RUSH’s play an important role in developing critical skills for the future of regional communities and the increasing demand for a regional skilled workforce.
Our Mission
To deliver and support immersive and innovative local higher education programs, to produce graduates who enrich, power and sustain our local communities. We promote and support online and blended delivery of higher education in the Pilbara and Kimberley to all residents irrespective of their age or background. The PKUC provides a unique learning environment through which students gain access to education and administrative support, application and enrolment assistance, guidance on courses and pathways, connections with local industry, as well as comfortable and modern facilities in which to study and connect with other students.
About the Role
Working as part of the PKUC Team you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of your PKUC RUSH with the overall objective of nurturing the self-efficacy, wellbeing and retention of students, during and post-completion of their higher education qualification. As the PKUC Hub & Student Services Manager you will work as part of the PKUC network to engage, encourage and support local students through a holistic approach to higher education academic support, as well as providing application and enrolment assistance, guidance on courses and study pathways, and connections with local industry.
In addition, the role will be responsible for providing a range of higher education services to support the learning of regionally based online university students, including knowledge of the latest university online courses and in-demand industry and workforce skills requirements.
Your knowledge and involvement within the local community will be your strength as you build partnerships with schools, community and industry groups advocating for and creating opportunities for local students to aspire to and participate in higher education.
What we are looking for:

A Bachelor or higher degree in a related field is desirable.

Experience working in academic support services or business development, preferably in a higher education setting.

A warm, emotionally intelligent and caring person who is passionate about his/ her regional community.

Well organised and a self-starter.

Great communicator, connector and collaborator with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.

An individual who is dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic about creating opportunities for regional and remote students.

The agility and innovation to devise and execute plans and manage the day to day running of the study hub.

Ability to manage staff, lead multiple projects and manage competing priorities.
Key responsibilities
Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Provide a range of student service support including assisting students with selecting courses and planning their studies, providing career guidance, and support with university applications and enrolment processes.

Build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and relevant external PKUC stakeholders to understand local students’ needs and ensure targeted higher education services are provided.

Coordinate, monitor and evaluate ongoing projects, programs and initiatives and report progress to the Chief Executive Officer/ Business Services Manager.

Research and evaluate potential new student support and program opportunities (including undertaking risk, and financial assessment) and assist in the development, preparation and submission of grants and program proposals.

Oversee and support the efficient and smooth day to day operations of the Regional University Study Hub, including operational planning and timetabling of events, including a comprehensive understanding of the PKUC’s processes and operational frameworks. This includes administrative activities, overseeing RUSH maintenance, equipment, study space allocation, WHS responsibilities, planning as well as mentoring staff and students.

Prepare surveys and gather data from students, faculty, and stakeholders.

Input and assess data collected from surveys to identify trends and make data-driven recommendations.

Attend networking events, career expos and undertake, student outreach to support the PKUC team and promote academic pathways and programs.
- Offering assistance to our Nursing Co-Ordinator with our residential school in South Hedland when required.

Additional Information
You may be required to travel across the region and between PKUC Centre's for relevant activities/ events.
PKUC has a mandatory closure over the Christmas/ New Year Period. Staff will be informed of actual closure dates in alignment with PKUC operational activities and Fair Work requirements.
This is a residential position, no housing or relocation allowances are offered.
